The Engine House: Choo-Choo

Looking for the most delicious pizza on the east side of town? Look no further than the Engine House located at 309 Cass Avenue in Mt Clemens, the pizza is sure to keep your mouth watering for more.
This local gem was founded over 100 years ago and has gone through many transitions throughout the years. Originally located on the opposite side of the street that it is today, the venture began as a grocery store and meat deli from about 1899 to 1940. Later during the 1960s, it turned into an Order of the Moose Lodge for the Mt Clemens, lodge 127. There were meetings rooms in the second story and a bar and social room on the first floor. The establishment was passed through a couple more owners in which it was turned into a bar from around 1980 to 2002. In 2006 a new owner purchased the building and turned it into the Engine House, which is a highly thriving establishment.
Engine house features some amazing weekly specials. Their weekly happy hour is Monday through Thursday 3 to 6 pm with HALF off drinks and $2.00 domestics beer. Half off drinks? Yes, it even says so on their website. Domestic beers are only $2.50 all day and night and even cheaper when home sports teams are playing: only $2.00. Shot specials are $3.50 cherry bombs, all day, every day.
Aside from the awesome drink specials the food is absolutely amazing and the staff makes the experience very enjoyable.  I’ve been here several times and would highly recommend the specialty pizzas. My all time favorite is the White Pizza which is made with onions, tomato, and olive oil, spices, parm & moz cheese. It is absolutely thee most remarkable pizza ever. I usually put my own twist on this yummy monster by adding bacon… everything is better with bacon isn’t it? Well, this pizza definitely is. Another classic I would recommend is the BBQ chicken pizza. The Engine House pizza chefs just know how to make this pizza, and make it well. Two last favorites of mine is the Mediterranean pizza and the BLT pizza.
The food, atmosphere, drink specials  and friendly staff are sure to make your stop at The Engine House pleasant and memorable… oh and don’t forget, if you go there and a train passes by, you get free jello shots.

Madison's: Chuck Norris Would Party Here

Tucked away in a corner between an overbearing shut down Emerald Theatre and some Macomb County skyscrapers you will find the most fabulous pub, with killer happy hours and all night cocktail specials called Madison’s. Located downtown right in the heart of Mt. Clemens, this three story older brick building boasts a 100 year old history, which was formerly the Post of Mt. Clemens. With plenty of parking around, there are two distinct ways to enjoy Madison’s.
Madison’s has been voted ‘BEST PATIO’ several times by REALDETROIT in recent years. From personal experience, the patio is exceptionally fun, with extraordinary staff and amazing (did I say AMAZING!?) bartenders. The patio bar is open around May when spring air becomes not-so-nippy. Typically it is open until sometime around Halloween. The last couple of years the patio had closed for the season on November 1, but this year it seems like they will end up shutting it down quicker due to the colder weather. Even if it is a little chilly, the wait staff and bartenders are sure to turn up the heaters around the patio bar so you’ll still stay warm no matter the weather, while serving up the best cocktails around. The patio can hold up to 500 people and has several TV’s, so you can watch the big games that matter the most.
The second way to enjoy Madison’s is on the inside of the bar. The main bar inside is 35 feet long and is surrounded by several HD plasmas perfect for watching that Monday Night Football game you oh-so-crave. Or how about those Tigers? Did I mention that they have a huge projector TV screen (its 8 FEET HUGE)? How about surround sound, did I mention that? Just saying…
There is also a second bar called ‘front bar’ that is located on the east side of the building. This spot is perfect for birthday bashes, get-togethers, family events, etc. Madison’s lets you book parties/reservations and even gives you a gift card if your party is 20 or more people! There is also a cozy little lounge with soft couches and coffee tables in the ‘front bar’ area in case you’re looking for a little bit quieter place to hang out.
Lastly on this Madison’s gig is the food and drink specials. In the recent Tigers playoff games Madison’s is offering two complimentary hotdogs while you’re watching the game (not sure how long this will continue). The nifty pub also offers weekly specials and activities, like Quizzo Tuesdays (win a gift card), Thirsty Thursday specials, and other happy hour specials during the week. Chef John usually throws together an awesome menu to keep your taste buds happy for lunch and dinner. And did you know that they even make breakfast!? Madison’s also posts daily on their Facebook Fan Page to let customers know what is on the menu. Saturdays and Sundays, Madison’s offers $2.50 Domestics and $2.00 Coors Light Drafts. Not too shabby for a weekend special…
Next time you’re around the area, be sure to check out Madison’s and the stellar atmosphere. And remember their motto: Chuck Norris would party here.
